Somewhere in a Bunker

Somewhere in a bunker
someone knows they are responsible
for this conflagration of our planet.
Crouched, huddled in the dark
they must realize what they’ve done
and regret the loss.

Or are they sitting comfortably
at a bright computer console
soullessly tallying the statistical
report on how we won the war
and lost the future.
