Pool

Another dawn and
Our father is up and
Preparing to go to work,
It is glorious summer and
Our time as kids to
Learn and grow by play
In our backyard pool
Sister Susan got us
To dig and build.
We finish breakfast,
Grab an old towel
And jump into the water
As the day heats up
And we luxuriate
In the cool water.
We splash and throw
Ourselves around
While our mother
Checks on us from
The kitchen window
Every few hours.
A kids’ paradise,
We play hard to
Learn how to
Interact and
Make that
Our goal
In life.
