Mid Terms

Donkeys fondly dream
Of midterm victories
That will allow them to
Impeach the President,
Elephants raise their arms
Thump their symbols of
Authority screaming no.
I suspect the donkeys will
Become so many jackasses
When they lose the midterms
All due to their mania for
Turning the red white and blue
Into the rose ivory and teal.
Donkeys still do not see the majority
Is not on the Left but in the center
Which means they must shift
To an appeal to working-class
White men and women
Working jobs living from one
Paycheck to the next who feel ignored and dismissed by
The haughty Left who are guilty
Of being condescending.
Elephants never forget
A big tent wins but
Have abandoned
Their moral
Compass
To trump
Jackasses.
