Guests
Uninvited guests
Are never as welcome
As those we are expecting.
How do we honor hospitality
When the uninvited guests
Keep arriving without any
Invitation though some
May be fleeing bullies.
Even if we allow the
Few who cannot
Find sanctuary
Elsewhere,
Can we
Keep
The
Majority
Of uninvited
Guests waiting at the door
Forever, as we glance into each
Room with windows to
Check the locks and
Doors while we
Inconvenience
Our way of life
To accommodate
Those uninvited guests
Who do not want to speak
Our common language
And conform to our
Common customs.
Do we ask them
To pay for oat
Cakes tea
And
Pastries
We have set
Out for our invited
Guests who have followed
Our rules for our home
Learned our speech
And manners or
Shall we open
All the doors
Windows
And
Learn to
Become a new
Household with no
Common speech or set
Of manners, where we
Lose our sense of we
To a sense of me
First which is
Why we deal
With these
Guests
In the
First
Place.
Is this
Our home
Or theirs.
Shall we be
Ex-pats in
Our own
Home.
Or does
Hospitality
And honor require
Us to share and grow
Hoping these values
Will be adopted by
Our uninvited
Guests as we
Do with our
Children.
