Cookies

My sister Susan
In the first half
Of the 1950s
Made the most
Amazingly thick
And delicious
Shortbread
Cookies,
Vanilla almond
Marzipan …
Shaped like
Santa Claus
Stars Xmas trees.
Oh to return
To that kitchen
To smell the
Spices of
Xmas cookies
And desserts.
I have tried
To make such
Thick cookies
But got instead
Waybread for
Long journeys
Though not
Wrapped in
Green leaves.
Susan’s Xmas
Cookies were
Plain and some
Had icing but
All were thick
Tasty mouth
Wateringly
Scrumptious.
I liked the
Plain ones
Best.
