Monday

I awake in rehab to
The delicate light of
Dawn through my
Window growing
Lighter as I fall back
To sleep then awake
Again to a bright clear
Light realizing the rain
And gray clouds are
Gone replaced by
A beautiful blue
cloudless sky filling
Most of my window
Making me smile to
Start the week I return
To my son’s apartment
To prepare to fly to join
Carol in California.
A bright start for
A new life,
A new view of Mondays.
I am amazed at my
Good fortune
And thank
God for
Her
Though
She would
Say where is
Your bit of protective
Pessimism to which I smile
At an endless blue sky
Across the horizon
Bright with a
Promise of
Better
Days.
