Busy

I am in my 40s working
As a transportation planner
Daytimes teaching college
Evenings mailing out my
Board game Texas Revolution
Weekends helping raise three
Sons and avoiding any diminution
Of the marital urge daily when
A student handsome a manuscript
Of their historical novel set in 17C Scotland, a classic bodice ripper.
I am reminded of a Lincoln story
And tell the student to leave it and
Ask again next week after I grade
Exams then file it in a desk drawer.
Next week the student asks me
What I thought of her novel,
Taking it unread from the drawer
And handing it to the eager student
I reply, “Well, for folks who like
That sort of thing, it is just the sort
Of thing they would like.”
I find this lesson applies equally
To pretty much any situation
In life and endeavor to
Use the same
Approach
As needed;
Though, sometimes
I have taken just
A peek if too
Tempted.
