Hong Kong

I am 66 standing on
The deck of the Star
Ferry in the Hong Kong
Anchorage on a voyage
Around the Pacific Ocean.
My wife is taking a nap in
Our cabin while I explore.
I scuttle along trying
To keep up with the
Crowds rushing
About me but
Seek some
Peace in a
Temple
With
Red lacquered
Lions at all the doors,
Inside it is calmer
So I stand in the
Cool dimness
Until a monk
Approaches
Me gesturing
For me to depart
The premises to which
I bow my head and
Place my palms
Together as I
Nod to the
Burning
Joss
Stick causing
The monk to look
At me again searching
My face as I show him
My ship ID card on
A string around
My neck.
He
Sees the
Name Mings
And my photo
Then gestures to
Me to linger if
I wish for a
Bit longer.
