Solace
Light darkens
As dusk settles,
There is no evening
Breeze tonight,
It may be muggy.
I am alone downstairs
She upstairs,
Each allowing
The other space,
Our dog Rosy
Goes back and forth
Wondering why we
Are not all together.
I hear her walking
Down the stairs,
She rounds the corner,
I say good to see you,
I was getting lonely
But did not want
To interrupt
Your time
Alone.
She pounds
On my chest
Saying I overthink
And should have
Come on up.
We hug
Kiss
And laugh
At missing each
Other but too
Considerate
For our
Own good.
Solace in solitude
Is meager when
Compared to
A hug and
A kiss.
