Moi?
My poems didactic?
Nonsense, now sit
Down and don’t say
Another word until
My poem is over.
Now then, perhaps
Constructive criticism
May help if heard,
How to avoid telling
It like I think it is
Is difficult to practice.
Love is a leap of faith
Revised to be less didactic
Would be,
Perhaps love may be a kind
Of sort of a jump or leap
Into a factoid challenged
Paradigm inherently in
Some cases dangerous.
Or, does love possibly require
Belief not based on facts
Or, love contradicts our
Common sense, Or. Or. Or.
My poems are often like
Stories that teach and do often have a moral lesson like
Lincoln’s jokes or the
Stories of Jesus or so
Much of literature.
But, didactic means sneaking
In a moral point of view
With propaganda intent,
My poems are blatantly
Open in their message
With no ulterior motive.
Much like the story of the
Woman who accused
Men of using sex to
Get leverage to which
The character Frasier
Replies not so, sex is
What men want.
Just so, my poems
Are openly seeking
To reveal a truth
With a smile
And sometimes
A shake of
The head,
Any ulterior
Motive is in
The mind of
The reader.
