How can guilt
Be forgiven,
When we hold
People guilty by
Today’s standards
For acts from an
Earlier era in
America.
Some acts are
Always ethically wrong
But dating has changed
Since the mid 20th Century.
Seduction has become
Morally wrong and
The innocence
Of youth is
Now seen
As
Naive.
The genders
So seldom can
Communicate at
The best of times,
The teens are difficult
Enough without adding
Alcohol and drugs to hormones.
All memory is selective to
Our own point of view,
Our eyewitness view
Is always subjective.
Best to admit our
Memory is flawed
And forgiveness
Is the best
Solution.
Why
Expect
Teens to
Act responsibly
When adults
Make such
Bad
Decisions.
Just forgive
Our teen indiscretions
And hope we learn
Better when we
Are adults,
Forgive
And hope
To be forgiven.
