Texans

I lived with Texans
For 60 years moving
To Texas at eleven
And leaving at 69,
They are a unique
Society resembling
The cast of a rousing
John Wayne western.
They are friendly but
cantankerous,
Independent but
Team players, and
Brave beyond belief.
Lee called them his
Shock Troops and
Relied on them as his
Last resort to get
The job done.
I admire them and
Am proud to be one
Though my objectivity
Places me a step back,
They can be far too
Subjective and hold
To visions of the past
But if you gentle reader
Ever find yourself in
A tight spot you cannot
Do better than with Texans,
They get the job done.
