Our Time

We are both in our 70s
We know about love,
We share a bit of time
Together for a few years
Before I die or she forgets,
Worth the pain to come
For the pleasure of today.
We smile and laugh
Our time is full of joy,
We each have staked
Our territory day-to-day,
Comfortable together
Where we overlap,
Glad to have our
Private space
Each to our
Own.
We share
Grow together
Creating our time
To fit our needs rather
Pleased to travel parallel
Without any need to be the
Seamless couple we each can
Remember being with our own
Great love now gone but still
Remembered even as we
Forge our time together
Into a new relationship
That fits our own needs
Rather than others
Expectations
Of what a
Couple is
Today.
We
Love as
Only those
Who know love
Can love one
Another
Like
Two leaves
In an autumn
Dance in the wind
Circling around in the
Wind up and down our
Path together happy
Together brightly
Well aware we
Will face the
Winter with
A friend
Who
Cares,
We are
Light on the
Wind because
We are unburdened
By illusions so
Precious to
The young
But long
Gone
In us.
