A&M
My eldest son has
Joined the Cadet Corps
At A&M where he cares for
The mascot dog since he loved
Our dog Sasha and knew how
To treat a dog but his second
Year in the Corps he is told
To haze his roommate
Who is Hispanic, but
My son refuses so
He is shunned
Which is hard
As he works
The Corps
Cafeteria
Busing
Tables
And
Lasts
To the
End of his
Second year
When he returns
To the Army but now
In military intelligence
Instead of as a paratrooper.
He tells us A&M has some
Fine traditions but some
Of the cadets are crazy
Which is what we told
Him when he made
Up his mind to
Join the main
Source of
Combat
Officers in WW2,
The A&M Cadet Corps
And the proud traditions
Like the Dixie chicken
Dixie chicks though
Sometimes even
Dixie doodle
Conduct.
He died
On
Active
Duty on
Kuhnea base
By Schofield Barracks
Hawaii in his late
20s and buried
At Fort Sam
Houston
Texas
In the
Same grave
As his daughter
Who died a year before
And laid to rest alone
Where the soldiers
Could guard her.
So, perhaps
Fate united
Them.
