Didactic
My companion
Tells me my poems
Are too often didactic,
I thought didactic was the
Emperor Diocletian’s nickname.
Me have an ulterior motive in
My poems trying to teach
Some smug moral lesson
Seems rather shady of
Me when all I want is
To strike some spot
Of memory in my
Readers to bring
A smile of soft
Reflection or
Even a tear
At the iron
Price they
Have had
To pay
For what
Odin gave his
Eye for but
Happy to
Gain
Wisdom.
