Coconut

I am seven enjoying
Christmas and in my
Stocking is a coconut
Which I try to open with
A hammer and a nail but
With no success until I wedge
The coconut between the coach
And a box then hammer in the
Nail and try to drain the milk
Which seems watery then I
Strike the shell smashing
It to pieces which I try to
Harvest for the white
Coconut meat in
Chunks each
Delicious
Once
Separated
From the shell.
The first coconut
I have ever seen
And already I
Wonder how
It would be
With some
Chocolate.
I learn to
Make
Fudge
Adding
Coconut
And walnuts
Pouring the fudge
Into a glass pie pan
Coated in butter let cool
Then I slice it to pieces
Each gobbled up by
Sibs and me as
Christmas flies
By as I am
On seven-
Year-old
Time
And
My
First
Coconut.
