Sunbeams

New

We are both off
Work in our 30s so
Making love on a lazy
Afternoon allows time to
Enjoy each act of sharing
As we take our time paying
Attention to details that might
Be missed in a hurry noting the
Sunbeams in the light between the
Blinds dancing in the still air with
The door shut in solitude, our one
Thought each other as we gaze
Languidly at eyes we know
And trust smiling at our
Euphemism we call
Strengthening our
Pair bonding but
Knowing we are
Doing just that,
Spending time
Together in
Embracing
Our love.
Taking
Time
To
Breathe
As a couple,
We glow like
Two sunbeams
Floating, hoping
The children will
Not get home
From school
Before we
Wake
Wash
Worn
Out return
To mom and dad
Form reassuring to
Kids eager for a
Peanut butter
Sandwich
With jelly
Maybe
With
Three
Slices
Of bread.
Our eyes meet,
We smile as
Only old
Friends
Can.
