Citizens tried to eat a tamale with
The shuck on causing roars of
Laughter from the crowd and
From the President, people
Were instantly fond of him
Because he was genuine
Rather than just another
Pretentious Anglo who
Did not know he was
A Lexicon-American
More concerned
With proper-
Ganda
Than
Enjoying a
Good laugh.
Just so, today.
Plain speakers who
Can laugh at themselves
Make better leaders
Than polished
Fakes who
Think
Bright colors
Proper presentation
And glossy
Pages
Are
A substitute
For substance.
