The desert is
Clean of the clutter
Of a civilized landscape,
There is a simplicity of colors
In winter gray sky dark green pines
Beige rock white snow and in the
Summer blues sky dark green
Pines beige rock in both a
Mix of pastels and basic
Colors but no buildings
Traffic expressways
Right angles but
Most of all no
People or
Noise
Unless
You know
How to listen
How to see at a
Distance knowing
Real from mirage,
Just so with your
Companion who
You see and
Sees you
Not the
Mirage
We too
Often mask
Ourselves from
View so the
Desert is
Clean
Of clutter
We think
Is real.
