Home

I am 73 headed home
Tired but optimistic about
The future I do not yet know
Content to help my friend
With whom I live not as
Husband or father but
More as a brother or
A loving friend so I
Wonder at how a
Romance starts
And stops how
Two connect
Then grow
Apart but
Still in a
Loving
Friendship
Still moving
Forward to an
Unknown end not
Married but in a limbo
Of California hangin’
Which seems to me
A poor substitute
For marriage
With a prenup
In a state where
Surfing surpasses
A career yet financial
Planning is sacrosanct
Where the heart is wary
To the point of madness
As love is always a leap
Of faith not a spread
Sheet for emotion
But I must admit
The weather
Cannot be
Beat for
Fresh
Air.
So, I suppose
Home really is where
The heart is at the moment.
