Dagger

A dagger black
Is not a shiny knife
Not for cutting slicing
Dicing nor gutting but for
Finding a kidney or a heart
And I muse on how I came
To possess such a unique
Weapon when foreign
To my skill sets more
Comfortable with a
Pen than a pointed
Puncture device
Designed for
The dark to
Do dark
Things
But
I have
No memory
Of having gained
Possession of it nor
Care to recall who has
Risked their life to gain such
A souvenir of war and am glad
To give it away to those more
Inclined to such activities
With the caveat that it
May bring a natural
Death ... natural to
The line of work
It is designed
For which
Holds no
Allure
For
Me
Though
I am keen
On meet and
Greet aware the
Phrase glad to meet
You hand at side thrust
Forward in a handshake is
Reminiscent of the Roman short
Sword gladius copied from the
Short Spanish sword used to
Thrust forward to penetrate
Not slash or hack sharp
At the end hence the
Instruction stick
Them with the
Pointy end
