Stars

I am 40ish
Waking at 3 am
I silently slide out
Of bed creep to the
Back door onto the dark
Screened patio then out the
Screen door and quietly into the
Swimming pool trying not to make
A ripple swimming in starlight so
Bright I can see the pale blue-
White contours of the pool
Then turn over swimming
Face up staring at a sky
Heavy with stars to see
What I’ve never seen
Before the heavens
As seen from under
The water amazed
At the beauty as
Black sky star
Light fills my
Pool with
Pale
Bluish
Light then
I move trying
To make no sound
Back to my half of the
Bed to think about how
What I saw is how I see the
World and people around me
Until a voice whispers “well,
How’s flipper?” laughter
Follows as I relate my
Adventure then the
Long wait for her
To comment but
All she does is
Roll away to
Claim next
Day she
Was
Asleep.
Wise woman
Under sun
Or star
Light.
