Laugh

My wife
And I are
Sitting in an
Episcopal church
At our granddaughters’
Confirmation ceremony when
The short round minister tell the
Congregation they are fortunate
To have him as their minister
Which causes my wife to
Erupt into laughter but
We are the only ones
Laughing and the
Silence fills the
Tabernacle
As we see
He was
Serious so
We keep quiet
Then duck outside
For a good belly laugh
At such pomposity which
Is a story I try to recall before
Teaching each class as by
Nature history teachers
In community college
Are not prone to
Humility quite
The opposite
But a good
Laugh can
Clear the
Air and
Freshen
A room of
Pomposity
So laugh at
Pretension
Guffaw
At lies
Even
Giggle
At hubris.
