Green
The humming
Bird in the garden
Is iridescent green a
Blur of wings bobbing
About the flowers like
Some fairy or sprite
Happy in the sun
Light far from a
Hillside home
Far to the
South in
Some
Jungle
Place now
Following the
Blue butterflies
North with the sun
Carrying its own green
Card of iridescent feathers.
I think of Teotihuacan the
Toltec city of pyramids
A culture that might
Honor iridescent
Feathers green
Or blue rather
Than Aztec
Brighter
Red.
In a drawer
Behind me is a
Black charcoal three
Inch cylinder coated in tan
Clay from Teotihuacan
Though I have never
Figured out what
It is for just my
Accidental
Find from
My arm
Pushing into
An underground
Chamber reaching
Down to a smooth shelf
Finding two pot shreds and
The cylinder putting them into
My pocket glad not to be bit
By centipedes and red or
Black scorpions or a
Spider or snake
Only feeling
Clumsy in
Climbing
An out
Wall
Of a pyramid.
Better to have found
Iridescent green feathers.
