Lincoln I

Mid 1950s
My Christmas
Present is Lincoln
Logs with which I go
Crazy building log cabins
First and barracks the more
Log cabins through the winter
Snow slush rain until Spring
Creeps south again letting
Us play outside running
Here and there just to
Run as fast as we
Can alive and
Happy to see
Nature come
Alive again.
We spend
One-sixth
Of our
Life
In kinder
Garden since
At five years old
It seems to last forever.
Each new grade is long but
Each year gets shorter until
At 75 months shoot by
Like weeks even days
Are over in the blink
Of an eye time to
Learn again how
To cherish each
Bit of time so
I do so and
Thankful
For my
Family and
Dear friends.
I may give some
More Lincoln logs
This Christmastime.
Kids will stare at them
Blankly look to Mom wtf.
