Unfair!

My sons are 9, 13 and 16 and
I am allotting chores for the
Next fortnight against the
Protests of the two eldest,
My middle son complains
Loudest that he is assigned
Washing the toilet, sink and
Bathroom floor while his
Youngest brother just has
To wash and dry dishes.
He is red-faced and adamant
That he does not want to
Clean up after his brother’s
Bathroom habits and aimless
Bathroom etiquette,
His younger brother sees his
Distress and offers to switch
Chore assignments with him.
I nix the switch and explain
To them they are each assigned
The chores given because they
Do not like those particular
Chores and that is why they
Need to do them,
The middle son because he is too
Proud to do them and the
Youngest because he is too
Willing to do them.
I wonder if the universal god
Explained to Job and if it
Did any good since Job
Still felt wronged
Though given
The whys
By his
God.
As a being
Of lesser sentience
I wonder if I will be able
To explain to my sons how
Our universe breathes by
Expanding them contracting
As other dimensional universes
Expand and contract in
Tandem with our own
As reluctance to do
Chores beneath
Our pride are a
Small matter
In a single
Dimension
Universe
Like
Ours.
