I am 72 lecturing
On cruise ships in
The Baltic watching
Old movies in my cabin
I am sharing with a friend
When I muse on a similarity
Between myself and a film
Character when Bertha
Looks across the cabin
Rolls her eyes saying,
“Dan. Not everything
Is about you.” How
Right she was to
Point that out
After almost
Six weeks
Summer
In the
2017
Baltic &
Norwegian
Fjords putting
Up with my blather
For which I am forever
Grateful as in hindsight I do
Tend to be a pretentious
Academic at times and
I should have taken
Her reminder to
Heart but I did
Not which led
By October
To these
Poems
As an
Autobiography
Of my life and
A lesson still
Unlearned
By me
That
Everything
Is not about me.
