Twin

I have a twin
My opposite and
Yet very near myself
With whom I grew up
In northern Louisiana and
Southern Illinois then in Texas.
I can close my eyes and see her
Standing on a windy Gulf beach on
Padre Island in her proper bikini
Breeze blowing her hair as she
Stares at the sea horizon like
I am we are only two years
Apart in age both teens in
The middle of six kids so
We fight but always in
Moderation as we do
Clash with our sibs
But our long walks
Together as little
Kids bond us in
Life as allies
At need as
We have
Grown
Up
With in
Group conflict
And resolution like
Salt and pepper on a
Table knowing how to fight
But also how to make
A compromise
To survive.
We are
Twins.
