Sky

A winter sky
Clouds in grey
Reminds me now
Of the cold embrace
Which longs for spring.
I know how dementia robs
Her of when and where she
Is or the day or time but worst
Leaves her angry resentful of any
Reminder though her plea to just
Take care of whatever she has
Left hanging makes sense to
Me as the utilitarian way to
Care for a dear friend who
Is bravely learning how to
Cope with the winter of
Her life as the memory
She once was proud
Of slips away to a
Grey nothing she
Is aware of but
Unable to be
In control of
So we go
Day-to-
Day
Under
A winter
Sky aware
The blue above
The clouds is there.
We have photos
To remind us
Turquoise
Is the
Sky
Walks
Salads
The dog
Grandkids
And our smiles.
