Brits want to
Leave the EU?
I think it is not the
Regulations or some
Wrangling in Brussels
But the preservation of
The British society as such.
I was in a laundromat in Paris

Who stripped down to

Cloths to the load
And sat staring
Out into the
Winter day
As the
Local
Ladies
Tried to
Ignore him
Folding their
Laundry watching
Their kids feeling like
Their laundry was more
Comfortable before these
Damn American tourists came.
I do not know their feelings about
A Polish man in his underpants
But who really knows what
The French really think?
The British are already
So changed from the
Village dream of
Garden clubs
And the EU
Was just
Far too
Close
To the
Notorious
St. Trinian’s
Lounging about
One’s local laundromat.
