For access to care
And equipment, triage
By urgency of need which
Means ranking the young who
Generally have a better chance
Of survival over the old who have
Generally less chance and beyond
That ranking last those without a
Pulse or who due to condition or
Higher likelihood of never able
To survive being on a rare
Available ventilator must
Be triaged to the end of
The line with the one
Who makes a triage
Decision a medical
Staff not a family
Member but who
Cares enough
To agonize
Over each
Triage to
The end
Of the
Line.
Why is
This now
Necessary,
Failure to act
Over the last two
Years to prepare for
A pandemic the federal
Government was warned
Was cooking up but found too
Politically embarrassing to triage.
