Fun
I am seven
In the first grade
Coloring the smell of
Crayons and Manila paper
Heavy in the air fixated on my
Drawing oblivious to time or
Teacher working steadily
To create a picture of
Crenelated walls a
City wall high and
Strong to protect
But even then
I know any
Wall is
Only
As strong
As its defenders.
I am shaped by stories
Of adventures wars battles
Now long banned in children’s
Books comics cartoons or
The radio or TV as too
Inappropriate for a
Child but known
And loved by
Me coloring
My own
Vivid
Imagination
On a winter’s day
Heated air scent mixing
With crayons and Manila paper
Until my teacher stops me
Saying time for our next
Assignment noticing
I have lost track
Of time busy
Happy and
Never ever
Want to
Stop.
I am ever
Unashamedly
Enthusiastic and
Always will be
When doing
What is
Fun.
