And the Rains

Somewhere I can
Remember the phrase
And the rains came which
Seems to fit the local weather
Forecast of over a week of daily
Rain and thunderstorms here
At Lake Conroe in the Piney
Woods of East Texas but
It does keep the July
Temperatures in
The 80s each
Day so hard
To grouse
About it
When
Things could
Be a lot less comfortable.
I wonder if a week or two of really
Hot temps would melt the
Bronze statues along
The road into our
Little April
Sound
Community.
I do remember
Hot temps in Texas
That melted the asphalt
Roads causing big trucks to
Leave sunken tire tracks
In the road and in one
Case up to the axle
Which folks later
Claimed was
Where the
Truck
Sank into
The asphalt
Out of sight and
Left only ruts then gone.
And the rains came
And welcome
To a Texas
Monsoon.
