Patrol
My eldest
Sister wants
To be free of all
Chores by noon on
Saturday and so I and
My sibs are all awake long
Before the sun rises the washing
Machine chugging away containers
Of wet clothes to hang up on the
Backyard clotheslines my two
Elder dusters and I hanging
Up clothes my younger
Sister on clothespin
Patrol picking up
Clothespins on
The ground as
Things dry we
Drop the pins
Which she
Gathers in
A basket
As the
Hours
Creep by
Until she stops
Whirls around to
Face us declaring
Wouk wouk wouk that’s
All I eveh do! And throwing
Her basket of clothes pins
Onto the ground stomping off
Having an epiphany at six
Of life but then she picks
Up her basket collects
The pins and keeps
Working and by
Noon we are
All done an
Entire half
Day left
To do
As
We please
Free of chores
Wandering about
Like the first fairy children
To awake into the wonders of life.
Today she is 72 and still she
Works hard helping others
To pick up their clothes
Pins in life sublimate
Until all chores are
Done and to be
Happy in
Your
Life on
Clothes
Pin patrol.
