Tea
At sea
I meet her
For breakfast
In the Lido writing
Out a poem I wrote a
Long time ago wondering
Why she spends time with me.
I am 71 with a lame left foot a
Rather seedy professor who
Lectures on cruise ships so
Why is she at 54 strikingly
Beautiful but with MS an
Odd match but we are
Both alone single and
Smitten so I write out
“Tea Sir
You may depend upon it.
Stains the teeth
Strains the heart
Stimulates the mind.
Tea Sir
You may depend upon it!”
She is a retired dentist
My heart is strained and more
We are both stimulated
Carried away from
Common sense
But we know
We can
Depend upon
Each other always.
We still text or chat a
While from time to time
Gone our separate ways
But always friends
The other can
Depend
Upon
To listen.
Nice to talk
With the past.
